Many docker images provide stripped down versions of ps that have almost no options. Normally, it truncates the output to the size of the terminal. Have you ever wondered how to see the entirety of a long command?
I can’t be the only person who can’t stand it when a command spews a load of blinking text onto my screen.
Have you ever been annoyed when looking at the output of git diff when you notice that columns don’t line up properly when comparing text files that mix the use of tabs and spaces?
If you use a prompt which begins with a colon and ends with a semi-colon, you can cut and paste entire lines which requires much less eye-hand co-ordination.
